Orientation Week at UZ

From March 3 to March 7, 2025, the University of Zielona Góra was buzzing with life thanks to Orientation Week – a special event designed to welcome international students and help them integrate into their new academic environment. For the summer semester, 115 students arrived from countries such as China, Nigeria, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal and Turkey. A week full of attractions, meetings and unforgettable moments became the perfect start to the semester for participants of the Erasmus+ program.
The first day began with a ceremonial welcome meeting, during which the UZ International Cooperation Office and the ESN UZ Association introduced students to the university’s structure, study programs and upcoming events. After the presentations, students were given a guided tour of Campus A, where the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy staff organized fascinating scientific demonstrations. The students had the opportunity to witness experiments that sparked their curiosity and encouraged them to explore the world of science further.
On the second day, students set out to explore Zielona Góra, culminating in a city game focused on searching for "Bachusiki" – the charming symbols of the city. It was not only great fun but also a chance to learn about local history and culture. Discovering the city together helped foster friendships and create a welcoming atmosphere.
The third day was dedicated to the practical aspects of academic life. Students visited Campus B and the University Library, where they learned about the available academic resources and the opportunities offered by the university. The information gained that day will undoubtedly make their daily life at the University of Zielona Góra much easier.
On the fourth day, participants went on a trip to the Muskau Park – one of the most beautiful natural landmarks in the region, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A walk through its picturesque alleys and gardens was a perfect opportunity to relax and discover the charm of the local landscape.
Orientation Week 2025 concluded with a spectacular international dinner, where students prepared traditional dishes from their home countries. It was a true celebration of flavors, cultures and integration – a moment that will remain in the memories of all participants for a long time.
Orientation Week 2025 was more than just an introduction to life at the University of Zielona Góra. It was a week full of new experiences, friendships and inspiration.
